Forgotten Child Soldiers of Horn of Africa

Child soldiers are known recruited in the war zones for the sole purpose of using them as soldiers, sex slaves or using them to transport military equipment and most of them end up in dying in frontlines or getting maimed after sustaining injuries.

As a experienced journalist who worked in many reputable international and regional media outlets as both reporter and editor, i have never seen such a story where the victims are overpowered and completely silenced by their oppressors. A journalist who was a friend of mine approached and shared a painful story with me of child soldiers, but when i commenced my research, i was shocked of what i discovered as facts count.

In early 2011, few Somali child soldiers who were recruited by al-shabab terrorist operatives in Switzerland in secret closed sessions, let that be private houses or sacred places. Ayub Macalin Jeyte happens to be one of them who lived in Zurich and got recruited and brainwashed and was convinced to go back to Somalia to fight for al-shabab in its bloody insurgency campaign , where he later died in a combat against the Burudian AU peacekeepers stationed in Mogadishu.

It is quite bizarre that al-shabab operatives living in Switzerland are privileged with protection and enjoy impunity, despite all their crimes e.g., child soldier recruitment, organized crimes, attacks and threats, but the secret of their survival in Switzerland is due to their clan ties with official Somali translators who work for the local authority in Thurgau canton in eastern part of that country.

One of the recruiters is even now more emboldened than ever before and writes his articles on al-shabab run website known as Somali Memo, where he writes propaganda and threats against journalists/youtubers/activists. The same man sends SMS, Facebook and WhatsApp threats without any fear of consequences due to his protection privileges, where he holds travel document and receives social support money and is able to travel to any region in world without any complications.

According to local Swiss citizen Mrs. Ackerman, who had bad experience with local police when she wanted to report about receiving threats from al-shabab operatives and the local police did not have knowledge regarding al-shabab and could not take her seriously, and she quoted in her legal memo, that she understands very well, if a man from africa who barely speaks and understands german language and wanted to report such incident to the local police in Thurgau, that would have been terrible and painful, due to their ignorance of the topic to be seriously addressed.
