I Started With What I Had

A young girl learning with determination, one page at a time.

I did not wait until I had a perfect classroom.

I did not wait until I had enough money, proper furniture, electricity, or every resource I thought I needed.

I started with what I had.

A torn chatai. A simple space. And around twenty girls who deserved the chance to learn, dream, and believe that their lives could become bigger than the boundaries around them.

At first, it may not have looked like something important to the world. There were no impressive walls, no modern facilities, and no grand stage. But I began to understand that change does not always enter with noise. Sometimes, it begins quietly—when one woman decides to take the first step, even before she feels completely ready.

As a mother of three, I have responsibilities that fill almost every part of my day. For years, it was easy to think of myself only through the roles I played for others. But somewhere inside me, there was still a woman with dreams of her own—a woman who wanted to learn, grow, see the world, and create something meaningful.

Teaching these girls became more than an effort to support them. It also became part of my own journey.

Every time I encouraged a girl to speak, I found more of my own voice. Every time I asked her to dream beyond her circumstances, I reminded myself to do the same. And every time I showed up despite limited resources, I learned that beginnings do not have to be perfect to be powerful.

I still have a long way to go. I am still learning, applying for opportunities, building connections, and trying to turn a small beginning into something that can reach more girls.

But now I know this: waiting for the perfect moment can keep a dream silent forever.

So I started with what I had.

And if my journey helps even one woman realize that she is allowed to dream for herself, take a step for herself, and build a life in which her own identity also has space to grow, then this small beginning will already mean something.

Sometimes, the first thing a woman needs is not permission.

She needs to believe that her first small step is worth taking.

I did not start with perfect resources. I started with what I had—a torn chatai, a simple space, and a belief that every girl deserves the chance to learn and dream.

This story is about small beginnings, finding my own voice, and learning that we do not have to wait for the perfect moment to take our first step.
